Hello, my name is Carol Bartholomew, I'm an illustrator. I grew up in Michigan. I've spent most of my life drawing. I sketch up ideas first to give the drawing life and then digitize it later with Adobe CS2. I have experience in so many mediums that I find it a little hard to figure out what exactly that I like the most. I've always said if I can draw cartoons and play drums for a living I'll be the happiest woman alive. My true passion came to life when I was hired in at Greenestuff Inc. in Clinton Township Michigan, as a character designer for an award winning childrens television program called, My Bedbugs.
At the time when I was approached by the show's creator. It was just a concept, in the creators mind. I drew and developed the charcters, Toofy, Woozy, Gooby, Snoozy, and J. Edgar., to help bring the concept to life. Successfully I did. Children from all over the metro Detroit area began to really love the characters and the program. “My Bedbugs” took off on Detroit PBS television, and has expanded their audience to over 100 Million homes across the United States also, the majority of Canada, the Cayman Islands, and Bermuda. I Recieved two Telly awards for my work on the show as well as two Local Emmy nominations. (Not bad for starting right out of the gate). For several years I worked at Greenestuff as a background artist, character designer, and Illustrator. Providing the look and feel of the show to keep it fun, upbeat and consistant throughout the show’s two and a half seasons.

I have also painted wall murals, children’s furniture - designed corporate logo’s and branding concepts for corporate and small business.

Most recently I have explored the world of web design. Although I will not call myself a web designer, I have created a few pages to add to my knowledge and portfolio. www.horinacanoe.com - www.msldetroit.com - www.thezoo_crew.com as well as a few others. Nothing fancy yet, there is a lot to learn.
When I am not painting or drawing, I plays drums for the Detroit band - “My Secret Life”. Come check us out for a night of Sub-Urban Rock and Roll.
